LOOK BEFORE YOU OPEN

Link checker.
Look before you open.

Paste a suspicious link or choose a QR screenshot. See the actual hostname and common URL warning signs without opening the destination.

Free · No account · Local preview with an optional online threat check

IS THIS LINK SAFE?

Check the address. Then the context.

This link checker highlights URL features that deserve a closer look, such as embedded login information, HTTP, numeric IP addresses, internationalized hostnames, common short-link services, and possible redirect or download links. These are clues, not proof of malicious activity. The tool does not detect every shortener or impersonated brand.

How do I check a QR code?

Choose a screenshot or photo containing one QR code. The image is decoded in your browser and its website address is inspected using the same checks as a pasted link. Wi-Fi, payment, and contact payloads aren’t supported. No destination is opened, and redirects aren’t followed.

For an iPhone app workflow with history and other code types, follow our guide to scanning a QR code from a saved photo. For a suspicious destination, use the QR link-review checklist before signing in or paying.

Does HTTPS mean a link is safe?

No. HTTPS protects data in transit, but a phishing website can use HTTPS too. Compare the complete hostname with a website address you already trust. For unexpected payment requests or account alerts, open the company’s app or type its known address yourself.

What does the online check do?

“Check known threats” sends the website address without its fragment to Google Web Risk through our Cloudflare service, then shows the result here. The response may be cached. A result of “no known threats found” is not a guarantee of safety. Private, reserved, numeric, credential-bearing, and oversized addresses cannot use this online check.

The separate domain-report link opens Google’s Site Status tool with the hostname, excluding the link’s path, login information, query, and fragment. Google Safe Browsing identifies known dangerous sites. Its report is separate from this page’s local inspection.

Keep scanning on your phone.

QR Scanner reads codes from the camera and saved photos, previews destinations, and keeps scan history. Online reputation checks in the app require Pro. Review the current features and purchases before downloading.
